All right, I know we've got a load of Buckeyes here on the forum, so here's the latest in Yodeling Pickle (http://www.voice-overs.com/forum/general-voice-over-chit-chat/416-joeactors-pickle.html) news...
I'm mentioned in a Cleveland Plain Dealer article!
Here's an excerpt for you:
Give the gift that says, 'I love how clever I am'
Sunday, November 25, 2007 John Campanelli
Plain Dealer Reporter
Gift-giving isn't about giving. It's about us, the gift-givers. Everything's about us.
We don't care if our recipients want what we're buying, will use what we're buying or even if they'll keep what we're buying. Only that they remember the gift (and therefore us). In addition, we hope they say, "Wow, this gift affirms my opinion: That girl/guy is cool!"
Although coolness can never be guaranteed, we can say that the gifts below will ensure gift-giving immortality.
Especially the Yodeling Pickle.
...
Electronic Yodeling Pickle:
A yodeling pickle?!
Before you dismiss it, there's a reason it's Archie McPhee's best-selling item of the season ($12.95 at McPhee.com). There's lots of charm lurkin' in this gherkin. Not only that, it comes equipped with better pipes than Melinda Doolittle, belting out a 10-second yodel that puts country stars -- and most Austrians -- to shame. Go to McPhee.com to hear its song.

... I know there's a joke in there somewhere, but I'm too polite to say it (online at least!)
Hmmm... a travelling yodelling pickle show?
I'd probably need to print up some promotional concert lederhosen first...
Kara: do they still actually *print* newspapers?

How cool is that Joe!? OMG! You're gonna be bigger than the pet rock! It's a Dilly!
Now seriously... when you took up yodeling, did you ever think it would become the new "in" thing? You're a cult classic!! Wow, this must be my brush with greatness!
Prosperity for everyone... and a Yodeling Pickle in every stocking. (and yes, I AM glad to see you! ha ha!)

Ya know Joe, every year at Christmas my sister would hide a pickle (now, now-- nothing naughty!!) somewhere in her house and whoever found it got a prize. Since this is the first year she's gone, I think I may have to get your pickle and use that as it's own prize-- it's pretty cool!
The best part is I get to say, "yeah, I know the yodeler inside that pickle!)
PS: Rubber chickens are a hot commodity in the Boland household. Now I'm even more jealous!

Dina,
I would be honored if my humble pickle becomes a part of your Christmas tradition.

That reminds me of how at bridal showers my cousin would sit next to the bridal couple and write down different things they said while opening gifts-- all taken out of context. She would then compile them into a little story and read it after all the gifts were open. It was always a riot.
Now, if we could just get a couple of voicers to pluck out some choice sentences here and.....

As I sit and read the pickle comments, I cannot believe what a bizarre, twisted group of people you all are. And how fortunate I am to be in your midst.
And Todd's comment about charm lurkin' in the gerkin made me snort Diet Pepsi through my nose. Ow.
Gotta go practice my yodeling now...

dina--i loved your idea and so plucked some key phrases for a stream-of-consciousness type of script!

Hey, on a brighter note....
Harry (my hubby) is so excited for his pickle!! No lie!! We were just talking about it at dinner tonight. He also thinks it's so cool that you're doing the voice (even though he doesn't know you).
See? We feel famous just vicariously through you and your pickle!!
Ahhhh, the joy a yodeling pickle can bring to a family during the holidays!! Just look at all the love you're spreading!
