Hi, I'm new. Any tips on how big an MP3 demo submitted to this forum should be? My current one is nearly 3 minutes long, and my character reads about 5 minutes. Too big?
Cheers
Alex

Hey Alex,

The current limit on this forum is 7 megs, but most are under 2 megs...

As for Demo Length, 3-5 minutes is very, very long (at least in the U.S. of A.) Most demos come in at around a minute, with some edging near 2 minutes (if they'r really good with a lot of variety).

Couple questions for you:
Does the demo contain full or partial spots? (partial's best to keep interest)
Do your voices, styles, pacing, etc. repeat themselves? (many ears stop listening when they hear the same delivery)
How much are you comfortable cutting? (what's your minimum best?)

I'm not a "Demo Expert", but I have definitely gotten some great advice from those that are. A smokin' demo is your calling card, so you want to grab the listener, keep their attention, and not drag it out too long.

Always leave them wanting more,

I would try and keep demos under 2min, about 90 seconds on any demo is sufficient enough. Anyone else agree?

YOu're welcome to post longer here... but you wouldn't want to send out longer to clients or prospects!
