Hey gang,

Just wondered what your thoughts were on this snazzy little device:
Shure - New Products - X2u XLR-to-USB Microphone Adapter (http://www.shure.com/NewProducts/X2u/index.htm)

It converts XLR to USB, is small, has a headphone jack, phantom power, gain, mix control and a bunch more features... retail looks like $129.

Seems mighty sweet to me,

Just looking at it and not actually trying it, Marshall's Micmate give you the xlr to usb conversion and the phantom power for less cost and looks sturdier, this one looks as if it's made of plastic, while the mxl micmate is metal. Of course the headphone jack and gain are nice features, but do you really need those when you use a usb mic...isn't most of your adjusting done on the computer if you're going at it that way?

Yeah, I like Marshall's stuff and Shure. This looks like it's on par with the "Pro" version of the Micmate (about $100).

Would love to see a review on this, or hear first hand from someone who's seen one.

Might be too new for that yet...

I wouldn't use any of them. I would go for the 24-bit CEntrance device.

Ah, you mean the MicPort Pro?

Nice - 24 bit / 96k.
Sells for about $150.

Wonder how the three stack up?
(aside from the bit rate, that is)

Anybody use one of these 3 on a regular basis?
