Greetings to all.

I’ve noticed in some of the postings in other forums on this board that it is preferred newbies introduce themselves before posting elsewhere so this is my introduction.

As you can tell from my handle, my name is Jeff Emery. I’m not really new to VO’s but I am new to pursuing it as a potential career.

I was in radio for a number of years as an announcer and news reporter. And, I certainly did my share of VO’s and commercial production. Eventually, I left radio as I started a family and needed better pay and benefits.

A few years back, I took up video as a hobby. I was fortunate that my hobby blossomed into a business, though it provides a rather modest income. I’ve done some local TV spots, radio spots, marketing, promotional, and training videos. But those are not at the level of which I want to achieve.

That’s one of the reasons I’ve joined this board. There’s definitely a wealth of information, wisdom, and advice here and I’m glad that I can draw from it. Thanks to all. I hope that at some future point, I’ll be able to give something back and make a positive contribution for others.

Jeff

Oh great.... another ex-radio guy.:|

Welcome Jeff! Have fun while you're here and remember to tip the waitresses.

Thanks Scott,

You know, I guess I really should have said Great... Another Radio Guy. But I never really considered myself to be one of those Ron Radio types. I never tried to be a DJ . I tended to talk with listeners instead of at them. I didn't try to be cool. I just tried to not be uncool.

"I just tried to not be uncool."

You gotta tell me how to do that, man. I embraced my nerdiness too hastily! ;)

Anyway, welcome! You're right, this place has a lot to offer. The people are very friendly and helpful, too (well, I'd like to think I'm friendly at the very least, while not experienced enough to be much help).

There are some excellent recommended books in the Reviews section, too, if you're interested.
