For all of you folks in the USA where daylight savings time is used, don't forget to set your clocks forward one hour Saturday night.

To save myself the groggies and adjust easier, I actually start shifting a bit sooner.

This morning I got up 20 minutes early.
Tomorrow will be 40 minutes early.

... then Sunday morning's hour lost won't seem too bad.

Works for me,

Ugh! We must stop the madness. All this springing ahead and falling back. What's the point? And this year, it comes way too early. Grumble, grumble...

I've never understood how being awake and using lights for an extra hour in the morning before sunrise versus that hour in the evening after sunset is supposed to save energy. Do lights use less power at certain times of the day?

Apparently, you can blame Golf for this one (sorry Ben),

I actually welcome the change...NOW. But, when I had infant children I hated it! A six week old kid doesn't know what time it is. A 2am feeding became a 3am feeding. Arghh. And any of you radio folks who ever worked the overnight shift in the fall may remember that night when 2am suddenly became 1am? Crazy!:cheesy:

We in the Saskatchewan...say that 3 times real fast...don't change time....the rest of Canada and the rest of the world changes, but we stay the same ALL THE TIME!!
Here's an article all about us and a picture of my town right up front...Cheers and have a great week end

I've already changed my clocks.

During WWII, here on some of the west coast towns and cities they had double daylight savings, and therefore it didn't get dark until 10PM. This was mostly for the factory people that worked the day shift and because of the blackouts- people didn't have to drive with there headlights on.

Like most laws, customs and other assorted dogmas, it may be time to revisit the benefit of and need for this ritual at some point in the future.

And remember, kids – over this side of the pond we don't change our clocks until the end of the month (last Sunday in March and October).

So the usual offsets for talking to your clients and friends in Europe don't apply for the next few weeks, if you're dealing with us lot!

Diana, it's been revisited twice in the last few years. The revision back to early March is the latest. I think this is too early. Our sunrise here is happening just before 7am now, so it'll be just before 8am after the change. So it doesn't really save any electricity.

I can tell you that the 9-to-5-ers I know really like having some daylight left after they get home from work.

I enjoy the cheap entertainment of setting my alarm to get up and watch my WWVB-controlled clocks change themselves at 2am.

I know, sad...

Since I am not a morning person, I do appreciate the extra hours of sunshine at the end of the day, when I can use them (i.e. for some late afternoon golf).

However, I think the whole concept of DST is rather stupid. If we so desperately need sunlight for certain activities, why not just adjust what time we engage in those activities rather than steadfastly doing them at the same time of day but changing what time we say it is?

wiki wiki wiki !!! damn, how i love the intertubes ... here i was thinking DST was a commie plot only to find out it's the fault of golfers like Lee ....

Daylight saving time - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time)

SNIP: "The prominent English builder and outdoorsman William Willett conceived DST in 1905 during a pre-breakfast ride, when he observed with dismay how many Londoners slept through a large part of a summer day.[/URL]An avid golfer, he also disliked cutting short his round at dusk."

Golfers control the world !!!

I agree with you Lee -- why not just change our schedules, and not manipulate the clock? Actually, I see Ben Franklin had this idea. (Love that man!)

And I'm sure all those brilliant men who invented DST did not have 12 year old boys to get out of bed for school this morning.

Last year, I didn't bother changing the clock in my car. I just sort of mentally adjusted until Fall came around. I'll probably end up doing the same thing this year. Silly little concept, but then again, I stopped anticipating outdoor activities after high school. ;P

Don't need daylight to enjoy happy hour. It's just as good as an indoor activity.
