I was over at guitar center yesterday thinking about getting the snowball as an extra mic to have when musicians come by the home studio to record an interview for my show. Didn't get it, the clerk actually talked me into getting a pair of marshall mxl 900 series mics that they had packaged together for the same price. Bought em got em home and recorded 2 interviews. I gotta say for cheap mics, I was impressed with the sound I got. I'm at work now, but when I get home tonight I'll post part of one of the songs that was recorded to get your input.

MXL makes some good cheap VO mics:

v67g
M3
2003 (good on some voices)
v88 & 87
and the v69me
The Genesis is nice too, but that's over $500.

If the v67g had a better self-noise rating, I'd use it a lot.

Given that the Genesis sounds considerably like a number of high end tube mics, including Neumann, Bock, Telefunken, Mojave and also comes with a high grade pop filter, cable and shcokmount, it represents an absolute bargain. It has low self noise a sound that is usually found in microphones runnig over $1,000

So here's a small sample of one of the songs using the mxl991 on guitar and the mxl990 on vocals
