Eric Morgan suggested I register and participate here. Looks like a fun bunch so far!
I spent a long time in radio, but the frequent turnover in station ownership was making it hard to stay employed. (See signature line.) So in 2005, I started looking for a way to combine my radio and production experience with a more recently-discovered love of flying. Lo and behold, an internet-based aviation news service was losing its podcast guy, and since September of '06 I've been producing three podcasts for them every weekday on a retainer.
While it's been a living and a great education, it doesn't quite fill the day, so I resolved in 2009 to augment it with smaller projects. I was registered for a while with a lower-end, commission-based voice marketplace a few years ago, and was one of the more prolific on-hold/IVR guys in the nation in the '90s, but I decided to try and raise the bar this time. I'm enjoying a decent hit rate auditioning at voices.com, partly because I'm already busy enough to be picky. I'll be working this year to improve my studio and my demo, and learn more about how you folks make a living at this.
After growing up and starting my career in Buffalo NY, radio has taken me through Atlanta GA, Orlando FL, Portland OR, and a couple smaller markets. I've now made what I think will be my final move to the Utah high desert, and I love the climate and area. If y'all ever find yourself out west, say hello!
Below is a recent :30 used in a TV spot for Cirrus Design, an aircraft manufacturer based in Duluth, Minnesota.
