Michael, without spending a whole lotta time going into it (it's late at night and I'm tired), overall the first demo isn't bad at all. It could stand to move just a bit quicker. I found that, while enjoying what I was hearing, I was ready to move on to the next bit. Also, the drugs spot didn't work for me. I didn't hear the real caring concern that I wanted to hear with a spot like that, and I didn't think the music was a good fit.
Finally, I like your voice, and it can work GREAT for a lot of today's needs, but I just didn't hear any variety there. You seem to have pretty much one type of delivery. If that's what I'm looking for, then you're in luck, but if not, you might get passed by.
But again, overall I did like it. Sounded like real spots and they were well put-together.
Listening to the second one now, the one that starts with Charlie Chaplin, and again, it's good. But pretty much every single critique I mentioned above applies here. For example, the opening Chaplin piece went a bit too long. It's :18 seconds long and I would have cut it after "just a few short years" (10 seconds). Ditto on the next piece and so on. They all linger just a bit too long. And yet again, while I DO like your voice (quite a lot) I'm only hearing ONE style and pacing here.
Did you produce this yourself? If so, you might want to have someone else work with you on redoing it so they can give you an outsider's take on how to piece it all together.
Best wishes!

Michael, hello from a little further north in Michigan...I listened to your demos. What a nice voice and delivery you have...very real and believable...kind of the 'everyday guy' that is so popular now.:afro:
I do agree with Scott's comments about about it being a little slow and while your delivery is so good, they all tend to sound a bit alike.
I wish I knew how to councel but have have a similar issue. It seams it takes allot of work to 'find ones voice' and be natural and unaffected...in doing so...we stick with that voice...as a result... variety of delivery and style is hard to come by without going back to 'unnatural and affected'.
I'll bet a good directed could walk you through those same great scripts and help.
But for the most part...I think you're great and are a perfect fit for so many of the types of jobs that I see posted..it's a matter of showcasing now!
Warm regards from up north!:bye:

Michael, good to finally hear those demos! I am assuming these are the ones you've been waiting on? I think they sound good Michael. while I have to agree with Scott to some degree, in that there should have been a bit more variety to your deliveries, you have a great voice and are very believable. Knowing where you had these produced, I have to say, I would have thought they would have kept each piece a bit shorter.
Bottom line...You have every reason to be proud of the demos. DO NOT hesitate to get them out there. My guess, you will definitely be able to land some work.

Thanks for the input guys! I had them done by a producer/ director. I really am learning something everyday! So as I continue to redevelop my demo, I will definitely use the productive input. You guys are great!
Mike
