Hi everyone;
Why am I here? Way to big of a question. Why did I join this forum? Much eaiser.
I am considering a career change. I have been doing the computer networking thing for a long time now and I need a new challenge.
While I am not a complete newbie at voice work, it has been a very long time.
Before being a network administrator, teaching college computer courses, doing flight test communication/telemetery, fixing video games, and wearing bear suit in a pizza restaurant, I studied broadcasting in college. I then spent over a year doing weekend DJ duties at KOSO FM Paterson, Ca and KYOS AM Merced, Ca. I have cut Spots, PSAs, and Promos. However it has been (Gasp) almost 30 years since the last one.
So, here I am trying to learn all that I can before I take the plunge. I look forward to reading your posts and asking questions.
Craig R. Bowers The Tangent Trout.

P.S. If you have any technoloigy questions, please ask. Who knows, I may even answer then. :bye:

I'm SO with you there, Craig. I decided to give this a go after many years as a singer and a day job as an Internet Marketing specialist. So you're certainly not alone. ;) Go for it! Just be aware that it's not an easy journey ... Like anything, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get anywhere. I'm not even *close* to where I want to be ... but though it's a long tunnel, I *can* start to see the light at the end of it. ;)

Welcome to the pool oh trout-y one!
Jodi's right (must be something about that name) - it's a tough journey to start ( but ain't they all?) but after lots of hard work it will hopefully start to pay off for you.
Lots of very knowledgeable folk lurking these halls. They're really great about sharing lots of tips and tools.
Enjoy the journey - there is no destination.

Hey there Jody/Jodi;
This is weird. Our Son's name is Jody. (Sound of Twilight Zone theme.)
While I do expect this to be a hard row to hoe. So is resetting the password of the same person every few weeks.
Phone rings: Me "Hi This is Craig."
Them: "Craig? What is my password?"
Me: "I don't know. But I can reset it for you. OK it is now Password001 with a capital P."
Them: "Oh, it's 001."
Me: "No it is Password001 with a capital P."
Them: "Got it 001P."
Me: "Just a moment. I'll be right there."
Sound of head banging on desk.
Thanks for the welcome. It's good to be here. It's good to be anywhere.
Have a good week all.

Hi Scott;
Yes. I have read that. Great stuff!
The more I read and re-read the posting the more I believe that I can do this.
Thanks.

OBTW Craig: My wife's MSOutlook keeps cr*pping out on her. When can you be around to fix that? ;)
(Seriously - I figured out the solution: Reboot. If that doesn't work, turn it off for two minutes, then boot'er back up. Seems to do the trick!)

Holy s**t! Merced, CA! I grew up in Merced, I lived right between G and M streets! I'm probably more excited than I should be but I don't care. That's awesome and so therefore, you are too. Welcome aboard.

Okay, seriously? I gave up on Outlook over a year ago. Tried Mozilla's Thunderbird program but was less-than-enthused by that one too.
So now I use gmail and direct web-access to my voicebyscott e-mail account.
No more Outlook.
No more headaches.
Life is good.
