Winston-Salem ( the orginal Twin City) is the big city in NW NC. I'm in Stokes County, City of King. Stoke County is the only County in the US and likley the world that has a mountain range rise and fall inside the county boders. Its a small range.
It is the home county of the founder of HGTV CHRIS LOWE. Three of the hotest act in blue grass are from here, Loue Reed, Allen Bibey and Ronnie Bowman. I would clam its home to me but I from Wilkes County further West, home to Tom Dulley, Jr Johnson, The foundation for Stock Car Raceing, and Merl Fest.
Ashvill is SW and is just another slice of NC heaven.
