I hear you, JS...and yes, there are a lot of bad and mediocre talent on the sites. In fact, MOST of the talent on the all the online sites are pretty bad, from what I've seen.
BUT, I DISAGREE about it not being a good place for beginners. There are enough low budget jobs coming in (as you said) that more experienced talent won't bother with, which makes it a pretty good place for new talent to get their feet wet. Granted, they don't post the $20 jobs like voice123 does, but there are a number of $100 IVR jobs that beginners would love to get... and you and I wouldn't give the time of day.
I have actually found and hired a number of good talent from voices.com and voice123. Not for $5000 jobs... but for $900 jobs. Not bad for a couple of hours work.
And recently... at least in the non-union, female category, I've noticed a LOT of jobs in the $1000-$5000 range.
