Jon, your comment about a "Joe J Thomas read" reminded me of a guy I've worked with named Glen Moreshower (done a metric ton of on-camera work). He had a thing about the 5 stages of stardom - here's a snippette:

Stage 1: Who is Ted Appleby?
Stage 2: Get me Ted Appleby!
Stage 3: Get me someone like Ted Appleby.
Stage 4: Get me a young Ted Appleby...
Stage 5: Who is Ted Appleby?
Seems like a lot of distance between Stage 1 and Stage 2. I hope when I reach Stage 2 I can milk it for a long time ;-)
