Hello everyone,
I just started reading your posts a few days ago. I have been reading your posts, from the seasoned to the newbie’s, and can see I am in good company. What a wonderful resource of talent! I'm impressed. I was planning on lurking for awhile before jumping in but what the hay, I wanted in on the fun.
Just a quick introduction as it's 3:42 am PST and I should be sleeping!!! I couldn't resist lurking the posts tonight and got caught up in it all. Time does fly when you are not paying attention.
Anyway, I’m Connie Mustang, California bred and raised. I've met some of you at Voice 2007 and look forward to seeing you again at Voice 2008, as well as meeting those of you I haven't met. I hope you are all attending.
I am in love...with this business. I have never found more joy in a job then this one. (I don't consider raising my children a job, although exhausting at times, it's a blessing.) I love to work overtime out of the sheer passion of what I do. Right now, I am in the process of renovating a 1/2 bathroom into a studio. I know what you're thinking, I guess that means I'll have a potty mouth; no we're removing the toilet. Temporarily I'm currently using my Mac and a desk in my dining room.
I have auditioned a bit and have done a few audio books which were fun to do. One of which has been nominated this year for an Audie Award!!! I've got my fingers crossed. But my main focus has been on learning the craft, so I have participated in more classes than auditions. Once my studio is complete I expect that to change.
I have a 10 year old son, Travis, who has acquired my passion for voice over and started working along-side me. He has done a few jobs and I am proud to say that he is currently working on a cartoon series called "Mixed Nuts" that hopefully will acquire a permanent home soon. So now there are two Mustangs riding the vocal range.
I also home school my son so we both attend college courses in Theatre Arts and Voice Techniques (singing). It is such a privilege to learn along-side him. He is really a bright kid and just adds laughter and love to all my days.
I have a 15 year old daughter who wants to be a writer, another one of my passions. She also brings love and laughter to my days, except now that she's soon to be 16 she bringing other things too... pms, wayward hormones, rebellion? Yikes! Do we really want this behind a steering wheel?
I have taken many v.o. classes with some of the greats in the business including MJ Lallo, Pat Fraley, various animators, directors, casting agents, etc., in addition to all the wonderful voice-over artists at Voice 2007, James Alburger, Penny Abshire, the list could go on and on.
Currently my web-site is down for repairs because I am adding my son's information too. So the Mustang Stable is closed for renovation. I will advise you when it is up and running again so you can hear my demo if you'd like. Some of you already heard it at Voice 2007 during M.J. Lallo's animation session.
Anyway I said I'd cut it short, yet it's now 4:26. I'm sure you'll learn more about me in the future.
I look forward to meeting all of you, sharing our knowledge, and celebrating your successes as we go along. Happy Trails to you, 'til we meet again.
