Don't have a personal story like Joe but I remember years (many years) ago when I was first taking acting classes my teacher had one of the top Chicago actors (who was one of the rare 10 or so in Chicago doing voiceovers on a regular basis) come and give a talk about the business. One of the stories she told was that she auditioned for a commercial and about two years later got cast in the spot. They had put the project on hold and finally decided to produce the thing. So, anything can happen.
And, as with Lee, I haven't booked anything yet off of Voices of V123, but I did get a nice e-mail from a talent buyer in San Diego I submitted to through Voices who said that, even though I didn't book the gig, he liked my audition and I'm now on his short list. That was a very sweet thing to hear and, even though others may have the same reaction, they don't have the time to communicate it to talent.
So. as the oh, so wise Joe has said, do the audition and move on. A year from now you may get a call or e-mail from someone, wonder how they found you and book a gig.
